It is an acknowledged fact that the core of any business is the Human Capital and the lack of it can impact businesses and pose great challenge to industries. According to McKinsey Global Institute in its recent report, by 2020 there would be a 13% shortage of highly skilled workers, which translates to a shortfall of 40 million and a 15% shortage or a 45 million shortfall of medium skilled workers. The need of the hour is therefore groundbreaking methods to overcome the scarcity of employable talent and increase the life span of employed talent.
Employee engagement is an extremely important factor for the success of any business. Engaged employees are committed, passionate and are able to align their mission to the organization’s mission and goals. Such employees use their talent to make a difference to the business success of the organization they work for. Recent research shows that 70% of the global workforce is not fully engaged and they undermine the success of their co-workers and in turn of the organization. Weak engagement translates to higher turnover, more absenteeism and lesser productivity. The need today is to therefore increase the employee engagement levels.
The third factor that needs to be addressed now is the expectations of employees. Gen X-ers grew up seeing their workaholic parents and do not want to make the same mistakes.

Gen Y-ers grew up independent, tech savvy and were taught to question things and are today questioning their employers. Organizations today are finding it difficult to adapt to this paradigm shift.
